IT’S usually a church’s business to deliver the faithful from temptation, but the annual St John’s Anglican fete will be turning that notion its head with a bevy of bargains on offer.
This Saturday, the lawns of the Anglican church on Carthage St, will turn into a shopper’s paradise selling something for everyone, as well as some new stalls among the mix set to shine, according to organisers.
Ruth Blakely said a trove of vintage jewellery would be offer with something to suit most tastes from the “way out there to conservative”.
She said the fete had become somewhat of a Tamworth tradition over time, running for “at least 20 years”.
The funds raised from the fete go towards the maintenance of church.
The fete will feature a few old favourites including the general store, the op shop and the return of the “teddy bear hospital”, with young doctors from Tamworth hospital taking some time out to treat any sick teddies.
The St John’s church fete starts at 8.30am on Saturday, opposite the Tamworth fire station, and runs until about 1pm.
