Peter Cameron is a movie producer and director, splitting his time between Australia and Los Angeles.
Now, the former Quirindi native, who attended high school in Tamworth, is looking to make a low-budget horror feature film, Pray for Dawn, in and around the Tamworth area.
The catch is, he needs to raise $54,000 to make it.
“Most of my immediate family still live in Tamworth so I thought it would be a great place to shoot my film,” Mr Cameron said.
“I also don't think many films have ever been made in Tamworth, especially horror films, so it will be a great opportunity for people worldwide to get a glimpse into the country music capital of Australia.”

Mr Cameron has launched a crowdfunding page to help get the movie onto the big screen, which would take his feature film count up to four.
“After romantic comedies like Toolies, Bush Boys and most recently Drunk, this will be my biggest and bloodiest film yet,” he said.
“Pray for Dawn will be a tribute to the 70s and 80s.”
Mr Cameron grew up locally, moved to Sydney at the age of 18 to pursue his dream of acting, but wound up studying film.
Since graduating from film school, he’s been involved in dozens of short films, feature films and videos.
But it was when he won a Green Card to America several years ago that catapulted him further into the industry.
“I usually start the year off in Australia and then head back to the US,” Mr Cameron said.
“Since being here (in LA), I’ve realised that the horror genre is massive.”
But Pray for Dawn is your not typical horror movie.
“I’ve got the script done, and am starting to approach actors and crew,” Mr Cameron said.
“A lot of people think horror is just scary, blood and gore. Expect to see something a little different to your typical vampire or Twilight movies.”
For the film to get off the ground, Mr Cameron needs to raise $54,000.
“This will be the bare minimum we need to get this film up on the big screen,” he said.
“With every donation, comes a perk, whether it’s a shout-out on our donation page or an executive producer credit on our film, it’s a win-win for everyone.”
