On Saturday, October 14 more than 40 countries and their cultures will be showcased from 4pm until 8.30pm.

Among the action will be tasty delicacies, dancing and workshops to give locals an insight into how culturally diverse Tamworth really is.

 Tamworth Regional Council Event Coordinator Carol Hughes said the event is now in its fourth year and has grown in popularity.

She’s hailed this year’s event as a record year for participation with a great mix of commercial stands, free tasting samples and entertainment.

“This year we have over 40 countries represented by way of food, art and craft and entertainment,” she said.

“Visitors to Fiesta will be able to peruse 72 stalls in total, with 22 entertainment acts to wow the crowds over the afternoon.

“Arts and crafts demonstrations include Persian calligraphy from Iran, bamboo lantern making from Sri Lanka, and Chinese lantern making.

“There are 20 stallholders offering free tasting samples including Hungary, Philippines, Bangladesh and Laos.

“ The sample plates are always hugely popular so I encourage people to get in early to avoid missing out.”

Mrs Hughes said there were 20 commercial food stalls open to grab a bite to eat.

 “This year, Fiesta fans will be treated to entertainment from the International Film and Entertainment Festival of Australia (IFEFA) who will also present its awards on the night,” she said.

“We are excited that the International Film and Entertainment Festival of Australia is being held in Tamworth at the same time as Fiesta.

“That means we are able to welcome them into the Festival, where they will bring dancers and entertainers, as well as present their awards on the night.”
