The future of the site remain unclear, but Tamworth Regional Council Mayor, Col Murray, says the development “fits the mould” of what’s wanted for the site.
“At the last council meeting [September 12], we just adjusted some of the time frames with the development,” Cr Murray told The Leader.
“We also added some more protections.”
Cr Murray said there was another proposal for the site.
“Council really likes the look of this development,” he said.
Late last year, council rezoned the site to open it up for a commercial development.
Council voted in favour of “changes requested by the proposed purchaser of the velodrome site to the contract of sale” which requested “council’s authorisation to proceed on the basis of the new timetable for key milestones”.
