Tamworth Regional Council voted in favour Woodley’s Motor Group constructing a new dealership on the corner of Marius and Hill streets.
The development will include a new showroom and workshop.
The proposal was put on public exhibition with issues relating to traffic, loading and unloading of cars and stormwater.
Russell Webb said it was a sign of confidence in the city for development.
“It’s great for the city there are proponents willing to invest in the way they are,” Cr Webb said.
Glenn Inglis said it was great to see investment in the city and “a very sensible” compromise had been found for Byrnes Ave.
Cr Inglis applauded council for “finding a way to make it happen”.
