“We’re passionate about educating our clients about the benefits of a new exhaust system, for all trucks and cars, not just sports types,” Tamworth Mufflers and Mechanical owner Tim Bensley said.
He started the business, in Anson Street, in July.
“I wanted to provide customers with more local choice when having their vehicle repaired, serviced and exhaust systems altered,” Mr Bensley said.
A key difference to his competitors is the ability to custom-build a client’s exhaust system.
“We also offer a wider range of services,” Mr Bensley said. “We offer mechanical repairs, log-book servicing, registration inspections and EP and noise testing.”
The business is locally owned and easily accessible, with parking available.
Starting Tamworth Mufflers and Mechanical was a natural progression for Mr Bensley, who restores old cars and rides motorbikes in his spare time.
“I’m currently restoring a 1964 Cortina and a 1969 F100 that was my father’s,” he said.
Born and bred in Crookwell, NSW, Mr Bensley moved to Tamworth in 2007 to manage Rundles Auctions and later co-owned Country Auctions at Nemingha.

“We have been making our 5000 gallon (22500-litre) tanks for nearly two years, and this tank has proven to be our biggest seller.”

FARMERS, government agencies and the general public have all relied on Independent Communications for their radio systems.
“Our customer base is very broad,” Independent Communications co-owner Philip George said.
The business was established 30 years ago by Jabez Nicholls, who remains a partner in the business.
Independent Communications designs, sells, installs and repairs two-way radios, including UHF CB radios, UHF CB hand-helds, GPS and aerials.
Mr George said: “We supply and install UHF-VHF radio systems into vehicles, from a single UHF right up to full private repeater systems.”
Latest products in stock include the CelFi mobile phone boosters, aimed at eliminating in-building dead zones and improving indoor mobile phone reception.
“It is for vehicles and stationary for the home, where we have seen some excellent results,” Mr George said.
Independent Communications, in Gunnedah Road, Tamworth, employs six full-time staff, including three installers, technical staff, administration and salespeople.
“We can customise your requirements to suit,” Mr George said.
“Let us know what you are looking to achieve with purchasing your new UHF and our staff will recommend what will suit the job,” Mr George said.

FINE print is the key to success for Graham and Denise Stevens.
They started Graham Stevens Print and Office Supplies in 1988, printing continuous computer invoices, statements and letterhead.
“Our offset presses are used for printing of envelopes, duplicate, triplicate and quadruplicate invoice and delivery books, and A5 to A3+ sheet printing,” Mr Stevens said.
“We have digital machines that print business cards, flyers and invites, so old technology and new are combined here.”
The couple are joined by Andy Seymour.
“Not only is he a good operator, but he can do maintenance on the presses, too,” Mr Stevens said.
Graham Stevens Print and Office Supplies is on the corner of Gunnedah Road and Bass Street.
They will deliver to businesses around the vicinity. “We print all commercial stationery, including cheques. envelopes, tags and labels” Mr Stevens said.
They laminate up to large posters and stock a wide range of ink and toner cartridges.
“We can print sympathy cards, general invitation and celebration cards, raffle tickets in books plus pub raffle 10 number sheet tickets.”
Outside work, Graham is a life member of the Tamworth Sporting Car Club, while Denise is involved in the South Tamworth Conference of St Vincent de Paul.
