A MAN was in police custody on Friday following an alleged domestic dispute involving a firearm near Inverell.

Emergency services were called to a home near the town about 11am on Thursday after reports of an alleged domestic incident where a firearm was produced.
On arrival at the scene, officers searched the home where they allegedly found a .22 calibre sawn off rifle in the roof of the premises.
New England Local Area Command acting crime manager, Detective Inspector Ann Joy said police form the New England Target Action Group, the dog squad from Tamworth and Inverell police officers arrested a 26-year-old man at a Tingha home on Friday morning.
"Police allege he was involved in the domestic incident the previous day and allege he was in possession of the firearm," she said.
"Police allege he threatened three people present at the inititial address with a firearm.
"No person was injured during the incident.
"He is currently assisting police with their inquiries."
Detective Inspector Joy said the man was taken to Inverell Police Station and charges were expected to be laid late on Friday afternoon.
