With a home ground advantage, employees in the local business would have more than 70 years of experience combined and hope their Bratwurst sausages and German burgers can give them some bragging rights.

They’re one of a number of businesses to face off in the state finals at the Tamworth Grower’s Market on Saturday, September 23 from 8am.

According to Tom Penrose, the special ingredients for a sensational sausage are quality fresh meat and some tasty herbs and spices to match.

“We’re feeling good but it’s going to be a tough competition,” Mr Penrose said in the lead up to the day.

”The first place getters from each region go into it and we have two entries.

“The German sausage is a favourite and always sells well over the counter. People like the idea of a more traditional sausage.

“The burger is a different one we offer, people like the flavour and we have built up our sales from it over the last couple of years.”

Mr Penrose admits he dad Brian would probably be doing most of the work on the day but he’ll be there helping out “where I can”.

“I hope everything goes well, a few years ago dad won quite a few, 2002, 2003 and 2004 were the golden years for us.”

Mr Penrose said it didn’t just stop at snags or burgers with a new dry-ager added to the shop also delivering quality meat.
