Students fashioned their own billy carts to compete against their classmates for a perpetual trophy and bragging rights.
The derby was split into two events, the time trial course and the hair-raising downhill race.
Design of the carts ranged from the practical and efficient to the down-right crazy, as all the students got in the spirit of the event.
Some carts had been handed down from older siblings to give the event a full family feel with some family members competing against each other.
Science teacher Todd McDonald acted as the ‘derby master’ for the day and said the event is much anticipated around the school.
“We’ve been doing this at the end of term three for the last ten years or so,” Mr McDonald said.
“The boys really look forward to it.”
“They get together in their own time and work on a cart they can have fun with.”
