The three-week competition tested 12 of Australia’s best working dogs, including Patsy Trevor’s dog Boss, from Scone.
Boss notched up 314.41km over 94 hours, 38 minutes and 5 seconds – coming in sixth.
The contest used GPS collars to track the movements of two dogs from every state as they went about their daily work.
The winner of the challenge was Flow, a six-year-old kelpie who works on a sheep and beef property in Tasmania.
She clocked up a total of 716km – 37.7km every day.
In the final week of the contest she ran 54.1km, 57.8km, and 50.8km in three consecutive days, astounding even her owner, Fingal’s Brad MacDonald.
“It’s been a bit of an eye-opener,” Mr MacDonald said.
“It was pretty crazy seeing her complete three back-to-back marathons.
“I didn’t come into the competition wanting to win, but the best bit has really been seeing Flow give 110 per cent every day.
“She’s a little dog with a big heart and she doesn’t want to let anyone down.”
The Cobber Challenge organisers said the distance figures put the efforts of our elite footballers – who average 12-20km a game – into perspective.
