Police, fire crews and paramedics were called to the Moonbi Ranges near the Moonbi lookout just after 9.30pm.
On arrival it was found the rear trailer of a B-Double was alight.
Police said initial inquiries suggested there was a mechanical issue and the driver stopped to the side of the road.
He detached the rear trailer while Rural Fire Service and NSW Fire and Rescue Crews extinguished the blaze in a short time.
The fire had spread to an area of grassland but crews were quick to contain it.
No one was injured and the truck was towed from the scene.
