Ipswich-based association president Kevin Keel said 91 riders from NSW and Queensland converged on the country music capital on Friday, before riding to Walcha on Saturday, where they visited Langford House.
The Australian GoldWing Association was established in the early 1980s and is Australia’s largest club for owners, riders and enthusiasts of Honda GoldWing motorcycles.
“It’s just to catch up with people,” Mr Keel said.
“It’s a chance to meet up, say hello, and go for a ride.
“We’re very impressed with Tamworth, so we’re going to return the weekend after Father’s Day next year.”
It’s a beautiful part of the world to get around.
- Brian Parnell
Mr Keel cooked up a breakfast for the group staying at Paradise Tourist Park early Sunday morning, before riders hit the road for another year.
Brian Parnell made the annual trip up from Penrith for the interstate meet and greet.
“It’s a beautiful part of the world to get around,” Mr Parnell said.
Paul Bailey, of Young, was at his first meet with the Australian GoldWing Association on his 10-month-old GoldWing GL 1500 trike.
“It’s just the feeling of being on a bike, the freedom,” he said of his love for riding.
“It’s something you can do by yourself, and meet all these other people at the same time.”
