A range of farm produce will be on display, but there’s sure to be something for everyone.
The show is not the only exciting event in Quirindi, according to the Liverpool Plains Shire Council.
Council reports a recent surge in the number of Recreational Vehicle (RV) visitors who often spend several days exploring and enjoying the area’s hospitality, attractions, peace and tranquility.
To provide for the RVers, Council has upgraded Freedom Camping Grounds at Wallabadah, Currabubula and Premer and developed new facilities at Willow Tree and Spring Ridge, all provide toilet and shower facilities. The Quirindi Caravan Park is being upgraded and a new Freedom Camp at Werris Creek is being developed.
Quirindi is the administrative centre for the Liverpool Plains Shire Council which also encompasses the township of Werris Creek and the villages of Currabubula, Wallabadah, Willow Tree, Blackville, Caroona, Walhallow, Warrah, Spring Ridge and Premer.
There is lots to do for both day visitors and tourists. The Who’d-a-Thought-It lookout provides a magnificent 360-degree panorama from the Great Dividing Range to the Warrumbungles.
The Rural Heritage Village, open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, showcases more than 200+ exhibits and the miniature railway operates on the fourth Sunday of the month. Bob’s Shed, on the road to the lookout, allows you to take a stroll down Memory Lane in an old time General Store, with a collection of historic pub items and Peter Brocks World. The Quirindi Historical Museum is open Wednesdays and Fridays.
Other attractions include golf courses at Quirindi and Werris Creek, the First and Second Fleet Memorial Gardens at Wallabadah and the Australian Railway Monument and Museum at the historic Werris Creek railway station. The recreation area at Quipolly Dam provides a peaceful location to enjoy a barbecue. Tour packages are offered by the historic 1867-built Marshall McMahon Hotel Wallabadah and the Currabubula Pub and Café. Contact the Visitor Information Centre or visit www.visitquirindi.com.
