Nutritional biochemist and best selling author Dr Libby Weaver will visit Tamworth on Monday, September 18 as part of a Food Frustrations tour that will also promote her latest book What Am I Supposed to Eat?.
The presentation will be held at Wests’ Diggers with tickets available from Dr Libby’s website.
The book will be released on August 24.
Dr Libby, as she is known, said diet trends and information on healthy eating was confusing – with many mixed messages.
Her presentation in Tamworth was aimed at making the concept of healthy food less confusing.
“Tamworth is the town where I grew up and mum and dad still live there,” she said.
“I’m very excited to be able to bring my work home that I have been incredibly fortunate to take over the world.”
“No matter where I go throughout Australia, New Zealand, the UK or America, the most common question I am asked is .. What am I supposed to eat? People want me to tell them how to eat.”
She said the answer was broad, there was no set way for humans to eat, but there were many elements that impacted on healthy eating that people might not be aware of.
“I think a lot of people are searching for that nutritional information,” she said.
She said health trends from low fat, to low carb, high protein and full fat were confusing and people wanted help in deciphering what would work for them.
Dr Libby said she had noticed a change in the habits of people in Tamworth since she grew up in the city.
“It’s enormously changed and it’s really exciting that it’s growing and people are really keen to take great care of themselves.
“I think a lot of people realise without health they have nothing and nutrition plays a role in that and what they eat on a daily basis.”
Fans will also have the chance to ask Dr Libby questions during her book signings after the talk.
What am I supposed to eat? is the author’s 11th book.
