Tamworth High School’s campus will form part of the official launch of NSW Education Week.
Breaking new ground, the launch will take place simultaneously in front of official guests, and televised live on YouTube at Tamworth High and Sydney’s Glenmore Park High School.
It is the first time that Education Week has been simultaneously launched at a regional centre and in the metropolitan area.
The simultaneous launch takes advantage of the technology used daily in the state’s 2200 public schools.
From Tamworth, the launch will showcase the talents of local public school students, including public speaking, music, dance and expression of local Gamileroi language.
Scores of students from Tamworth, Armidale and Quirindi will take part in the big event.
The students and technical staff were engaged in last-minute rehearsals to perfect their routines late last week in preparation for the day.
Ruythe Dufty, director of public schools for the Tamworth Network said there was a strong sense of excitement and anticipation.
“It is a real honour that Tamworth High was chosen to host this historic launch,” Ms Dufty said.
“Organisers have offered our amazingly talented students a vote of confidence and our students intend to make the most of it.
“A highlight will be the occasional address presented by highly-regarded Tamworth South Public teacher, Robyn Inglis and two of her former students, Joseph Anderson of Tamworth South Public and Oxley High final year student, Geordie Brown.
“Their heartwarming address will reflect on the Education Week theme ‘I Learn, We Learn’ and how teachers inspire students.”
Education Week is a celebration of the learning and quality teaching in NSW public schools.
The launch will begin at 10am and will be televised via a YouTube Channel.
