Tamworth Regional Council’s events and marketing teams are gearing up for a cracker of a country music extravaganza.
In the wake of a ticket pre-sales announcement on Thursday, council’s coordinator of events and operations Michaela Stevens told The Leader the 46th festival was shaping up to be a success.
She said moves were underway to open applications to performers for slots on the CBD’s public stages, along with the CBD market stalls. “August is normally the time where it all starts to kick into gear,” she said.
“Planning is in full swing, the phones start ringing with inquiries from buskers and stall holders and people who want to perform on stages in Peel St and Fan Zone. In preparation for this, we will be hopefully launching applications in August for people wanting to perform.
“We open our busking registrations a bit later but already every day get inquiries from people wanting to register – I’m sure again, Peel St will be filled with a variety of delightful voices during the Festival.”
She said applications would also soon be launched for market stallholders and the festival favourites would be back including sideshow rides on Kable Avenue and a new and improved Fitzroy St to be opened just in time for the big event. Campers can also pre-book their sites.
“For the first time last year tickets went on sale to allow people to pre purchase their camp site,” she said. “It was really popular and lets people pay for their holiday beforehand so you know it’s all paid and can spend other money on the concerts going on.”
