Presented by local singer turned professional music theatre actor Rob McDougall (Bishop of Deign/Cover Javert, Les Miserables; Mephisto, Faust), Epiphanies will present some of the greatest pieces of music from the great shows of the 20th and 21st centuries, backed by a stunning 18-piece orchestra.
Kerrie Anne Greenland (Eponine, Les Miserables; Violet, Sideshow) and Daniel Belle (The Ten Tenors; Cover Valjean, Les Miserables) perform a dazzling array of pieces from the most beloved musicals, including Phantom of the Opera, Carousel, Wicked, The Secret Garden, Sweeney Todd, Sunset Boulevard and The Sound Of Music, to name only a few.
Ably assisted by Di Hall, McDougall’s dream was to put on a concert to raise much-needed funds for mental health research.
“Ten years ago, Di Hall and I had a crazy notion – let’s put on a concert and raise some money for mental health,” McDougall said.
“Two concerts, two CDs and a substantive number of grey hairs later, we had successfully raised some $32,500 for Australian Rotary Health, earmarked for funding research into mental illness in young people.
“It remains one of the proudest achievements of my life, and an experience I will always treasure – so much so that we decided to do it again!”
Epiphanies is an opportunity for audiences of Tamworth and region to enjoy the talents of three musical theatre professionals, a professional orchestra and five much-loved local guest artists, while assisting in raising additional funds for this important cause.
“No show can go on without monetary support, and this dream would have died very early but for the incredible generosity of Alan Jones and Clubs NSW,” McDougall said.
“I’d like to particularly thank Anne Fitzgerald at Clubs NSW, who not only offered financial aid, but huge personal support and encouragement. Her friendship, energy and assistance has made this event come to fruition.
“I’m also very thankful to the Rotary Club of Tamworth and particularly Ken Hall, for handling the financial side of this production.”
With local guest artists including Peter Ross, Gabriela McDonald, Brookie Gillett, Lara Northey and Ann Walsh, and starring three of the cast of Les Miserables Australia, backed by an exquisite hand-picked professional orchestra, Epiphanies is one you have to see at Capitol Theatre on August 5 at 2pm and 7.30pm.
There are still tickets available for both shows. To book seats, visit entertainmentvenues.com.au, call 6766 2028, or visit the box office at Capitol Theatre and The Big Golden Guitar.
