The bright yellow 1973, BMW 2002tii was sold new to Tamworth school teacher, Patrick Greehan, in late 1973.
Mr Taffa said the tii was the top of the line in the 2002 range, and is a rare car nowadays.
“This car would have been very distinctive in the local area, as cars like these were more often sold in the main cities,” Mr Taffa said.
“A car like this in a regional area would have been unusual, and stood out in car landscape dominated at the time by Holdens, Fords, and Valiants.
“I have owned the car since 1992, and I am very attached to it,” he said.

Can you help? – Mr Taffa's letter to us
My name is Paul Taffa, and have been the owner of a rare BMW car since 1992. It was sold new in Tamworth in late 1973 to a local school teacher, named Patrick Greehan the current BMW dealer, J. T. Fosseys, have only been a BMW dealer since 1984, and do not any records of the prior dealer. BMW Australia also have no records.
I am searching for Mr Greehan or his family, as I am researching the history of my car while it is being restored.
The car is a 1973 BMW 2002tii, painted in a bright yellow BMW called Golf Yellow, with a light brown interior. It also had factory option Mahle/BBS alloy wheels. It also had accessory front and rear spoilers fitted.
Such a sporty car, in a bright colour, would have been very distinctive, and being owned by a school teacher, this car would have stood out in a world of Holdens and Fords.
This car means a lot to me, and any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated. Please, anything you think may be of assistance.
