The best-placed of the Tamworth Sporting Car Club members heading in, sitting seventh overall, Matt Halpin finished sixth with a fastest lap of 35.1240secs.
Driving his Holden Torana LJ, Halpin’s time also put him second in his sports sedans over over 3000cc class.
He was just edged out by Phil Heafey, who also placed just ahead of him overall.
Col Mayman, driving his VW Beetle, was the next best of the local drivers in 10th.
He was also the quickest around the circuit in the improved production 1601-2000cc class, by almost two seconds.
Brett Slingsby also earned a top 20 finish, placing 14th overall in his Holden V8 Commodore, and second in the improved production over 3000cc’s, with a fastest time of 37.5secs.
Wayne Grosser (Ford FPV) was just outside the 20 in 21st, while Tim Whitten (Suburu WRX) was placed 31st, Bob Rees (Turner Alexander) 41st, Glenn Mason (Nissan Skyline (R32)) 51st and Michelle Hanigan (Suburu WRX) 56th.
Hanigan was one of four ladies among the 57-strong field.
Series leader Doug Barry continued to set the pace, clocking 32.1870secs in his Lola T8750-F3000 to top the standings.
Ron Hay (Synergy-Dallara) was second with Dave Morrow (Krygger Suzuki) third and Neville Shears (Nissan GTR R35) fourth.
The series now moves onto Raymond Terrace on August 6 before finishing up in Canberra in September.
