An online petition is calling for Manilla’s viaduct rail-bridge to be saved from potential demolition.
John Holland Rail have been maintaining the disused piece of rail for some time and recently applied to remove the viaduct, which has been met with community outcry.

The petition was launched by Tamworth man Andrew Maughan online last week and has already received more than 550 signatures.
As a regular visitor to the town, he said the infrastructure adds a lot to Manilla’s charm.
“If Manilla loses the viaduct, it just becomes another boring satellite-town of Tamworth,” Mr Maughan said.
“It’s not being torn-down for progress, there’s no new rail going in, it’s just to save money.
“We’ve got about 200 years of built history in Australia, in Europe you can walk around ruins that are thousands of years old.”
Tamworth Regional Council and state MP Kevin Anderson have called for John Holland to hold community consultation.
