Forensic pathologists were set to carry out an examination of the body of Armidale plumber and boxer, Kenneth Hodges, 43, in Newcastle on Monday morning, but a hold-up forced it to be postponed.
Strike Force Kinsella detectives allege he was stabbed in the neck by Andrew Osmand at the property off Dangars Falls Rd, Dangarsleigh.
New England Detective Inspector Ann Joy told The Leader the post-mortem would now occur in Newcastle on Tuesday.
“We have conducted our examination of the scene,” she said.
“Detectives are presently following lines of inquiry into the circumstances leading up to the death.
Those matters are ongoing at present and detectives will be interviewing family members and associates of the deceased and the accused.

Osmand was formally refused bail in Armidale Local Court last week charged with the stabbing murder.
He is accused of killing Mr Hodges sometime between 6.50pm on Wednesday and 8.30am on Thursday.
The 48-year-old was arrested at the property on Thursday, shortly after police were alerted to reports of a stabbing about 8am.
