Morgan – son of Gunnedah footballing legend Geoff – is tracking down information on soccer in the New England and North West area.
He will have a particular focus on Gunnedah from 1955-75 but is also after information on a number of inter-town competitions that were played.
Of particular interest are the Browning Cup – donated by Eric Browning who was at Keepit Dam – the Bill Smith Memorial Trophy which was created in memory of Smith and the Gascoyne Shield – donated by Tom Gascoyne who lived in Gunnedah and donated it for his love football.
Anyone who has any information on the three trophies – or any information on soccer’s history in the area – is asked to contact Phillip Morgan on 0417 075 210 or phillipmorgan@bigpond.com.
