Organisers have hailed it as one of the biggest and the best yet with an outstanding contingent of young performers on display.
The event saw hundreds of people fill local venues including the Tamworth Town Hall and the Conservatorium of Music with people converging on the city from as far as Singleton, Grafton and Port Macquarie.
Eisteddfod committee president Chris Jackson said he was pleased with how the event was played out and it was bigger than previous years.
“Generally we are really, really happy with how it’s all progressed,” he said.
“There’s been a lot of support from the community, we are hoping to have a wrap up meeting and would like to get feedback from people with their suggestions.
“Some of the people I’ve had discussions with have made suggestions about the venues, but a lot of people were happy with the music program and how well the program was structured.”
Mr Jackson said the event was the biggest he’d been involved with over the last five years.
“It was absolutely great to see, being the 70th year,” he said.
Mr Jackson said adjudicators were impressed by the variety of talent on display and provided honest and constructive feedback to the performers.
“Leigh Carter, who was the instrumental and piano adjudicator, her adjudications were just beautiful.
“She empathised with the children and gave them really constructive, positive feedback.
“She said it was a really tough decision to award a winner as they were all of excellent quality.”
He said the eisteddfod was also an eye opener to visitors.
“The singing adjudicator, coming to Tamworth for the first time, thought their might have been a lost of country and western items, but there wasn’t.
“It was a real eye opener for her and she was amazed at the choral groups.”
With the Eisteddfod over for another year, Mr Jackson said there had been some interest in volunteering for next years event, and more were welcome.
