30-year-old Tamworth man arrested near Locks Lane, Tamworth, charged in connection to Calala car stabbing

A TAMWORTH man has been charged in connection to an alleged stabbing inside a car in Tamworth.

Police were patrolling South Tamworth and stopped and questioned a 30-year-old man near Locks Lane, shortly before lunch on Friday.

The man was wanted on outstanding warrants and was arrested at the scene.

Following investigations by Oxley detectives, the man was charged with malicious wounding and outstanding warrants.

Police will allege he stabbed a man in the neck inside a car in Calala on June 8.

He was refused bail to front Tamworth Local Court on Saturday.

Police said investigations into the incident are continuing.
