The 33-year-old has been released from hospital after he was stabbed in the neck three times inside a car in Campbell Rd, Calala, shortly after 4.30am on June 8.
Police said the offender attacked the man and attempted to stab a woman in the car before fleeing.
Oxley Chief Inspector Phil O’Reilly said witnesses have reported seeing a male matching the description in the Calala area but are urging anyone else with information to come forward.
The vehicle was seized by police for forensic examination as they hunt the offender.
He is described as having a tanned complexion, tall with a thin build, prominent front teeth with one missing, tattoos on his chest, arms and back, and short brown curly hair.
He was last seen wearing grey pants, a black t-shirt and a grey or brown-coloured jacket, and grey Everlast shoes.
