Celebrating their 40th anniversary Bulldogs kicked the festivities off with a 29-21-195 to 3-2-20 mauling of the Moree Suns in their North West AFL clash.
The signs were ominous for the Suns from the opening bounce with the home side quickly going on the attack.
They enjoyed all the early pressure but were a bit rushed inside their attacking 50, and had to settle for a couple of behinds before Mitch Swain kicked the first major of the game, and the first of his four.
Mark Ewington, Al Hillard, Andy Mack, Matt Pengilly, coach Greg Piggott and John Woolaston followed suit as the Bulldogs set up a 7.6-48 to 1.1-7 advantage at quarter-time.
Piggott snapped two goals in the space of a minute to get them going in the second as they kicked away to a 13.13-90 to 2.1-13 lead at the long break.
They continually smothered the Moree attack, a breakout goal from Adrian Smith the Suns lone joy for the quarter.
In the third quarter, Ben Maher really started to come into his own, the small forward booting three for the term.
Leading by 121 at the final break, the Bulldogs continued to show their class, Ewington and Piggott both bagging two goals to give them six and five, respectively, for the game.
Ewington’s last came in the shades of the hooter, after a good spoil from Maher in the middle and searching kick forward.
Ryan Cooper also kicked his 50th goal for the club as he joined his father Bob on the 100 game honour roll.
Smith, Jay Worley and Jason Saunders scored the Suns’ lone three goals.
