Katrina and Tahlia Rekunow, Emily and Ashley Chaffey, and Sarah and Clare Askey all feature in a young but talented side, that after being relegated to Division 2 last year will be aiming to try and get back into Division 1.
The first hurdle to that will be Nepean on Saturday afternoon, and while the strength of their competition is a bit of an unknown, coach Andrew Davy believes he’s got a side capable of claiming the silverware.
“Even though it’s a young team we’ve got some good experience in there and girls that have played at U21 and U18s Nationals,” Davy said.
“There are some quality players there.”
Australian Country stalwart Kimmy McLean will lead the side.
“There are a lot of combinations there, especially from Waratahs. That augers well for us,” Davy said.
One of the strengths that does jump out is the midfield, and Davy said they should be able to serve the strikers well. He is flush for options there and will look to “mix it up.”
“The girls may float to other positions but they are no strangers to that,” he said, adding that they are “very versatile”.
It is a “very young” defensive unit but Davy is confident they will acquit themselves well.
Up front Sarah Askey will be a focal point while Gabby Hathway “has pace to burn”.
