It was the battle of the venues when the ladies from the Pavilion Function Centre hung on to beat the Currabubula Pub 24-18 in the senior competition.

There had to be a little adjustment to the attire as both teams were looking lovely in black, which does make it a little harder to follow. The Pavilion ladies volunteered to accessorise with the stylish pink bibs to prevent confusion.
The pretty in pink Pavilion took the lead early when Gail Salter sunk the first basket. Kate Blinman followed shortly after with her own two pointer putting them 4-0 in front.
Currabubula did not let this deter them and they made their mark when Liyu Tenkir sunk their first.
The Curra ladies kept the ball moving and both teams displayed talent in their intercept game which spread the action all over the court.
There was a beautiful display of predictive passing by Currabubula which just came up short on points.
They were able to rectify this in their next play and Kate Sutherland took them to 11 against the Pavilion’s 10. The Pavilion’s Salter evened the score by sinking a foul shot.
Just before the half time siren Currabubula’s Lilly Smith made a nice run from the opposition end to convert the effort into two points taking back the lead 13-11.
Those of you familiar with the peculiarities of the temperature at the Dome will not be surprised to hear that it was a little chilly on Tuesday night out on the flats.
We have been rather spoilt as autumn was a bit of a no-show but winter has arrived and it was good to see some teams keeping warm under blankets while waiting to take the court. The ladies on the scoring bench even had to have a bit of shooting practice at half time to thaw out.
Smith from Currabubula hit the ground running in the second half when she was able to pull off a three pointer that delighted both herself and her teammates.
The Pavilion ladies appeared to take this as a call to arms and didn’t let their opposition get many more chances at points.
They took every opportunity to increase their score and it started to rise with points added by Margaret Patch, Tahlia White, Teressa Wheeler and top scorer Salter.
Currabubula were able to add the final points to end the game with 18 to the Pavilion’s 24.
Both teams gave a good show for the spectators, but in the end the combined experience of the Pavilion team proved too much for the youthful Currabubula team.
Good luck to all the teams travelling away on the long weekend for the John Martin NSW Country Tournament at the Central Coast. Those of us who can’t be there in body will certainly be there in spirit.
