SHE wowed them with her powerful voice, but country star Lyn Bowtell has bowed out of reality television show The Voice. Bowtell went head-to-head with Sarah Stone in a battle performance of the Annie Lennox classic Why but mentor Boy George moved in favour of Stone to stay in the competition.

“I’m really proud of her and think she will do an amazing job going through to the live rounds,” Bowtell said. “I’m glad I went out the way I did and can hold my head high.” Bowtell’s elimination caused a stir, with the other judges shocked by the decision.
“I’d rather people think I did an exceptional job rather than bow out ungraciously. Being a teacher myself, it was great to be the person on the other side of the scenario, I learnt a lot from George because he is such an incredible wealth of information.”
Bowtell returns to Tamworth in July for the CMAA Junior Country Music Academy. While she hasn’t scheduled any gigs due to her tv commitments, she’s hinted she’d be happy to share a microphone during her visit.
