Riding for the Australian Under 23 National Team, Jenner was outsprinted by mountains classification leader Przemyslaw Kasperkiewicz on the final lap of the 129.4km stage from Ardee to Skerries to achieve his best individual result in Europe.
"I'm very happy with the second place today after coming here hungry for a result. But wish I could have pulled off the win after having Michael Storer laying it all on the line for me," Jenner said.
"The plan for today was to give all we had and try move Cam (Meyer) up on GC. It started with [Sam] Welsford putting the bunch under strain then Storer delivering the blow to crack the bunch on the first categorised climb.
"Everything went to plan having three off the front until I dropped my chain at the top and then Storer puncturing 20km later after he and Cam had developed a one minute advantage over the chasing bunch.
"Once the group came back together DS James Victor gave us the opportunity to launch an attack and go for the stage win."
With a stage win, three podiums and third overall Jenner was pleased with the teams results and the experience brought to the team with the inclusion of Meyer.
"It was a massive effort by all the staff/riders this week and I think if we had a bit better luck things could have been different. Huge thanks to Cam Meyer who brought his experience and shared his knowledge,” he said.
"The team has had some unreal results this year and it feels great to be part of the success."
