About 9pm on Thursday, the male employee was working at a fast food shop in Frome St when he was confronted by three armed offenders.
One of the offenders was wielding a silver handgun and demanded cash before they attacked the employee.
Other workers rushed to help the injured employee before the offenders fled the scene.
Police won’t confirm the injuries of the employee.
A spokesperson for Ambulance NSW said they were called to a nearby location to reports a woman had been assaulted but three people refused treatment at the scene.
A crime scene was set up by Moree police and detectives have taken charge of the investigation.
Investigators are calling for anyone who might have witnessed the three offenders or who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact local police.
Meanwhile, a man has been arrested in relation to an armed robbery in January.
Shortly before 9.30pm on January 23, a woman was confronted by a man at a Moree service station.
The man was allegedly armed with a hammer and physically forced the woman from the four-wheel-drive before stealing her vehicle.
Police will also allege the offender then went to a nearby hotel where he threatened the bottle shop worker with the hammer.
He allegedly stole a sum of cash and fled in the stolen car.
Barwon detectives travelled to Tamworth where they questioned a 34-year-old man in custody at Tamworth Police Station.
He was later charged with two counts of robbery armed with an offensive weapon and damaging property.
He will front court next week.
