Nearly 100 vehicles, bikes, tractors, boats and military machines filled TRECC over the weekend for the show.
“We are still tabulating the final costs but the door and catering takings are up many thousands of dollars on last year,” Mr Hindmarsh said.
“That will mean thousands more can be given to local charities over the next few months as we distribute our funds for 2016/2017.”
This year’s special exhibit featured 60 years of Mercedes Benz cars. A dinner was held on Saturday night with motoring legend, Bill Buckle OAM, and master vehicle painter, Owen Webb OAM.
Thanks to the size of the TRECC it remains one of the largest indoor motor shows in Australia. This year’s special exhibit featured 60 years of Mercedes Benz cars, ranging from the 1957 300D (which picked up the best European Car Award – see below) to the latest Peel Valley Motors cars on display.
Yet again, due to demand for more exhibition space, all seats in the TRECC were removed to fit the massive number of entries.
For the second year, a special dinner was held on Saturday night with guest speakers, Australian motoring legend, Bill Buckle OAM, and master vehicle painter, Owen Webb OAM. At the sprightly age of 91, Mr Buckle has been around the motor industry all his life (he is responsible for creating the Goggomobil Dart for the Australian market) and Owen is not only known as a master car painter, but he also worked on two of the Queen’s State Coaches.
