She’s has just released Until You, a stirring love song done Marsten’s way.
The singer song-writer says Until You tells a love story through the eyes of a sceptical, non-committal twenty-something.
It’s the first single released off the forthcoming EP Lonestar which is due out on Friday, June 9.
The Gladstone songwriter is older and wiser on Lonestar – her second release.
“Lonestar is something I've been working on for a while now and every day until it's released is like Christmas eve because I'm so excited for people to hear these songs because I'm so proud of this record,” she said.
“ It really is a snapshot of the last few years of my life and a big step forward to the next part of my career”.
Marsten has been working on the EP for a “long time” and recorded it in December last year.
“I’m really impatient and want it to be out, but It’s very exciting to have a single out at the moment that’s different to what I’ve done in the past,” she said.
“It’s all been really positive, people can relate to it.
“People who I have never met before are saying ‘this song is about me’ and all that stuff, it’s kind of crazy but it’s really good.
“It’s based on a personal story, but not everything in it is stuff I’d been through.”
Marsten said the song is about finding a person who would change her mind about relationships.
She said the film clip, produced by The Filmery, turned her vision for the song into a reality and she was pleased with the end result
“My friends and I were in the same sort of mindset, thinking where we didn’t want to get in a relationship, but it took a very special person to change my mind that maybe I would want to be in one,” she said.
She’s currently planning the launch of her new EP in Brisbane and Gladstone and said she was starting to feel “extremely nervous” about the release.
The EP is something she’s proud of and she’s worked with some big names including Aleyce Simmonds, Lyn Bowtell and Alan Caswell.
“I am so proud of it and I think the songs are a huge step forward for me, as a song writer and vocalist,” she said.
“When i was writing my first record, I was still a teenager for most of it, not that I’m really a grown up now but I’ve had some more life experience.”
Marsten said following the release of the new album, she’ll be hitting the road for a house concert tour.
“We’ll be planning it all out and taking submissions on the road from August until whenever we run out of places to go,” she said.
“It’s an exciting little tour and a really great way to meet people and connect through music.”
