The 33-year-old Slovakian international's $1.15 million deal was not renewed after the Sky Blues signed Bobo and Milos Ninkovic as their two marquee players for the 2017/18 season. Holosko would have had to take a significant pay cut to remain with Sydney FC.

The forward will not play for Sydney in Wednesday's match against Liverpool. He leaves with an A-League winners' medal and a premiership as souvenirs of his two seasons in the A-League, where he scored 18 goals in 52 league appearances.

"Filip is one of the nicest people I have worked with in football and he has had a fantastic two seasons with Sydney FC," coach Graham Arnold said.

"He is a great player and will be remembered fondly by everyone at Sydney FC not just for his football ability but also his character."

The former Besiktas winger enters the European transfer market as a free agent and has already attracted interest from a number of clubs. It is not yet known whether Holosko will return to Australia, but it's understood he is on the radar of a number of Sydney FC's rivals.

"It has been a great season and many thanks to my team-mates who have been outstanding. Also a big thank you to all of the fantastic Members and fans who have supported me and my family throughout my two years with the club," Holosko said.

"Winning the Championship and the Premiers Plate was an incredibly special moment for me and my family. This is a hugely professional and family club and I will never forget that. I wish Sydney FC all the best for the future."

Meanwhile, a position that hampered Western Sydney Wanderers last season could become one of their strong points after the club signed an additional two goalkeepers.

Former Adelaide United shot stopper John Hall joins the Wanderers as an injury replacement for Jerrad Tyson, who underwent a shoulder reconstruction and will spend a lengthy period on the sideline. Hall is joined by 17-year-old former youth team shot stopper, Nicholas Suman, to provide competition for incumbent Vedran Janjetovic.
