New England Rugby: Barbarians hosts Ladies Day and St Alberts

Barbarians will host Albies, and Armidale Glen Innes Guyra on Saturday.

After their close last round escape against Glen Innes/Guyra, St Alberts will be looking to get back to their best when they tackle Barbarians at Alcatraz on Saturday.

The competition leaders didn’t handle the pressure the GhostStags put them under and made a hideous amount of mistakes as co-coach Chris Kelly phrased it.

Barbarians will be celebrating Ladies Day, and looking to string successive wins together after registering a narrow win over the GhostStags before having the bye last round. With rain forecast, ball control will be vital and the clash of the backrows will be decisive as both teams look to secure and maintain possession.

In the other game, Armidale are at home to the unlucky GhostStags.

The hosts will be smarting from their capitulation to Robb College last weekend. The Blues scored first points but it was pretty bleak after that. Glen-Guyra coach Whatarangi Rogers will be urging his side to keep going, knowing a breakthrough win can’t be far away.
