The airport has elevated levels of PFAS, a chemical commonly found in a fire-fighting foam that has historically been used by the Australian Defence Force in training drills.
Council and the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has reviewed the latest investigation results and requested more detailed testing of soil, groundwater, surface water and drainage lines in the area.
In the interim, council and the EPA are speaking with a small number of individual landowners around the airport to identify ways they may have come into contact with PFAS, particularly through water use.
Once their specific circumstances are known, tailored advice will be given to each landowner, including contaminated bore or surface water use and the level of contamination in that water.
