Confetti, which she co-wrote with another young artist, Mel Dyer, is the first single from Rachael’s EP.
“I think it’s got a really fun vibe to it, like I could imagine young girls dancing and singing along to it, and I hope that is how it’s received, because it’s just a song about having fun,” Rachael told Talkin’ Country.
Written more than a year ago, Rachael explained how she wrote the song with her friend.
“I just went over to her place, and we had lunch and just hung out as friends do, then we decided to sit down and write a song, which is why I was at her place anyway.”
Writing with friends has become a habit for the young artist, with the six songs from the EP all co-written with friends.
“There’s other songs I’ve written with Amber Lawrence and Tori Darke,” Rachael said.
“There’s one on there with Jared Porter, who’s a former Toyota Star Maker winner.
“I tried to be really diverse with who I write with, and take as much as I can from each artist, because everyone writes differently and we all have different styles and different ways of saying things. It’s very interesting actually, the whole songwriting process.”

After winning Toyota Star Maker in January, Rachael revealed she turned to songwriting as a teenager after being bullied at school by a group of girls.
By turning her emotions into song lyrics, combined with singing, which she done since she was a child, the Sydney girl, set herself on a path to a career in country music.
More than three months on since claiming the Star Maker title in front of a large crowd at Bicentennial Park, Rachael said she has been busy playing gigs in Sydney and was ready to spread her wings.
“I think I’ll notice a big difference once the EP’s out,” Rachael said in May.
“We’ve been doing a lot of the background stuff, I think I’m going to feel it more-so once I’ve got a product. I’m keen to see the full impact of Toyota Star Maker, it’s going to be cool.”
Describing the past year as a journey, Rachael said she has kept busy since winning Star Maker, playing gigs around Sydney, where she enjoyed getting to play her original songs in front of live audiences.
“When I go to a gig, and I’m listening to their lyrics and their songs and their personal experiences, that’s what I like.
“So when people come to my gigs, I want them to experience that as well. You get to know that artist.”
