Cass Mcilrick is the founder of Tamworth Mums; a volunteer group that supports families by gathering donated baby goods and re-homing them to those in need.
The organisation is a ministry of Liberty Church.
Their next mission is to put a smile on the faces of local mums who might be finding it tough this Mother’s Day and they’re asking the community for help.
The group have been busy putting together ‘mum love’ bags that include essential and luxury toiletry items.
Mrs Mcilrick said the bags would then be distributed to women who need them the most, including those at the Tamworth womens’ shelter.
It is hoped members of the Tamworth community might like to help.
Community members can drop their bags off to Shop 2, 68-70 Robert St on Saturday between 9am and 2.30pm.
“We thought putting the Mother’s Day mum love bags together was just about helping other mums feel a bit special on Mother’s Day who perhaps aren’t in the best situations,” Mrs Mcilrick said.
“They might be going through depression, domestic violence, separation, anxiety or all those things that mothers do deal with; this is just something to lift their spirits and let them know that all mothers should feel special at least on this one day of the year.”
Items that could be included in the mum love bags include: shampoo, deodorant, lip balm, toiletry bags, cotton buds, tweezers, perfume and more.
