Corporal Robert Prowse has served in Afghanistan, Malaysia and Iraq and was the special guest at The Armidale School (TAS) Anzac Service on Friday.
Corporal Prowse is part of the Royal Australian Engineers and is currently an Initial Employment Training Instructor at the School of Military Engineering. He completed his own training in 2008 there before being posted to the 2nd Combat Engineer Regiment, Brisbane.
He has twice been deployed on Operation Slipper as a High Risker Searcher in the Uruzgan province of Afghanistan and also served in Malaysia, before returning to Australia in 2013. In 2014, he took part in the Australian security team provided to the G20 summit.
In December 2015, Corporal Prowse was deployed to Iraq on Operation Okra as a part of Task Group Taji 2. His role was to instruct the Iraqi Army in basic soldiering before their deployment into the fight against Islamic State.
He was posted to his current position in January. TAS held its official Anzac Service on Friday near the War Memorial Assembly Hall.
