Last Thursday’s Tamworth meeting saw the 18-year-old drive a treble – which also saw a training double for his father Andy with the wins of Fear No Evil and Franco Seville.
Itsnewstome for trainer Richard Williams and raced by Ashlea McKinnon wrapped up the nights racing for Ison.
Franco Seville – at race start 101 – had a 4.8 metre win over Justaglamour and Jedi Superstar (Stacey Weidemann) another metre away third in the Billy Grima Memorial.
Fear No Evil had a 2.2 metre win over Ghost Gum (Lola Weidemann) and My Change of Heart (Ricky Gordon) a half head away third in the Johns Auto Service Pace.
“He came home like a bomb,” said Ison in reference to Fear No Evil. “It was definitely a good feeling to drive two winners for Dad but the horses have been working solid.”
Itsnewstome then took out the final of the night – the BMR Quarries Pace. “He went well and got the job done,” said Ison. “The win was a surprise but he was the best horse in the race.”
Ison then made the road trip to the Newcastle meeting on Saturday night with trainer Richard Williams to score success in the opening event – the TAB.COM.AU Pace with Midnight Montana, who paid $13 for the win.
“I handed up to start with and then popped out on the turn for home,” said Ison, with Midnight Montana having a three metre win over Rocknroll Diva (Brad Elder) and Lethal Star (Michael Formosa) third.
