Police have confirmed a man died following a motorcycle crash near Willow Tree on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to a stretch of the New England Highway near the Kancool weigh bridge shortly after midday following reports of a crash.
The man died at the scene.
It came minutes after a two-car crash where three people were injured north of Bendemeer.
The collision between a silver four-wheel-drive and white hatchback occurred on the New England Highway just outside of the township about 12.10pm.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson confirmed three people were treated by paramedics.
A 66-year-old man suffered a serious injury to his leg and head and was taken to Tamworth hospital.
A 19-year-old woman was treated at the scene for an injury to her sternum and abdomen.
She was taken to Tamworth Hospital as well as 65-year-old woman who was also treated by paramedics and hospitalised.
All three were reported to be in a stable condition on Wednesday night.
The collision forced the closure of the highway for a short time, and specialist crash investigators were called in to comb the scene.
The cause of both crashes is under investigation.
Crashes shut highway

There are reports a motorcyclist died following a crash on the New England Highway near Willow Tree.
Police and emergency services were called to the accident near the weigh station, just north of Murrurundi about midday.
However, it is believed the man died at the scene.
Meanwhile three people were taken to Tamworth hospital following a two-car crash near Bendemeer.
The accident happened on the New England Highway, just north of the village about 12.10pm.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman confirmed three people were treated by crews.
The spokesman said a woman believed to be in her 60s was treated by paramedics and taken to Tamworth Hospital in a stable condition.
A woman in her late-teens was treated at the scene for pain to her sternum and abdomen and was expected to be taken to Tamworth Hospital.
The spokesman said a man in his 60s sustained an injury to his leg and head and was also taken to Tamworth Hospital.
The highway was closed for a short time while investigators examined the scene.
