Following on from Anzac Day rain across the region, Tamworth recorded more than 11mm of rain on Wednesday with heavy showers in some parts.
The wet weather has paved the way for chilly conditions with a low of four degrees predicted on Thursday and a high of 16 degrees.
But the cool weather is set to continue over the Tamworth district with three degrees forecast over Friday and Saturday.
Top temperatures are not expected to hit above 20 degrees.
Frosty conditions are forecast for Armidale with morning temperatures expected to reach just one degree on Thursday, followed by a chilly zero degrees on Friday and one degree on Saturday.
Over in Gunnedah, temperatures are looking to be a little warmer with a low of seven degrees on Thursday and top temperatures of 17 degrees predicted in the area.
