Adam Harvey and Beccy Cole’s new album, The Great Country Songbook, Vol II, was released on Friday, April 28.
Fans of the delightful duo are treated to a catalogue of classic country songs, handpicked by the artists themselves and recreated with their own unique, signature sounds.
The duo are no strangers to working together, but this is their first collaborative album recording.
The project was spearheaded by Harvey who produced The Great Country Songbook, Volume One, with Troy Cassar-Daley.
Harvey said with the second release he was looking for female vocals and Cole was the perfect fit.
“My wife always says we are the male and female equivalent of each other,” Harvey said.
“Right from the get go, we have been really great friends, I really respect her and think she is the best entertainer in the business and she has a hell of a sense of humour.”
“You’ve really got to be match fit and running at 110km/h to keep up with her.”
Harvey jokes that he offered Cassar-Daley the opportunity to sing the female verses of the duets but he turned down the role.
“When you record those beautiful songs, it’s something really special,” he said.

“I’m a huge fan of traditional country and always have been.
“I guess the first album with Troy surprised the hell out of us with how well it went.”
With the dynamic duo about to embark on a national tour to promote the album, Cole said it is the eighth tour the pair have shared.
“We have been mates for a long time,” Cole said.
“He and I are very similar in a lot of ways; in our approach to entertainment.
“The audience love having a laugh.
“We want to make sure everyone leaves having had a really good time – it’s the most important thing.”
When it came down to choosing the songs for the release, Cole said she and Harvey chose the songs they couldn’t leave off the album.
“It could be a whole lot longer, but we had to whittle it down,” she said.
“I’m really happy with the way it came out.
“What we’ve done is we’ve tipped our hat and given a nod to the originals and added a new flavour.”
Out of all the songs on the album, both Harvey and Cole said their favourite song was You’re the Reason our Kids are Ugly.
The album is available from major retailers and online.
