In what was a spectacle for passing motorists, contractors have installed a six-metre television screen on the Kable Avenue wall of the old Regent Cinema.
Heavy duty cranes were used to lift the screen into place on Thursday.
Building co-owner Andrew Ward said the screen would provide advertising opportunities for businesses along with the opportunity to promote events in the city.
“We’re getting into that age where this sort of signage and profile is a good way of doing things in a busy world,” he said.
“We’ll be testing it for the next couple of months to ensure it is operational and remotely programmable before it starts operating.”
