Two women have been charged and banned from visiting all jails after ammunition, weapons resembling nunchucks and drugs were seized during a vehicle search on prison grounds.
The women, aged 35 and 36, were in the vehicle about 10.30am on Sunday when correctional officers conducted the search.
Officers allegedly found four strips of a narcotic used to treat opiate addiction, a glass ice pipe, a round of .22 calibre ammunition and what police described as “two sticks fashioned to be used as weapons similar to nunchucks”.
The 35-year-old Tamworth woman was charged with possession of ammunition and implements for the administration of prohibited drug.
The 36-year-old from Attunga was allegedly driving the car while her licence was disqualified.
Police claim she was at the jail to visit her partner, after she was prohibited from contacting him under her bail conditions.
She was charged with driving while disqualified and breaching bail.
Both women have been banned from all correctional centres for two years.
They have been ordered to appear in Cessnock Local Court in May.
