Tamworth barber Anthony Cotter is taking on the best in the business and going for gold.

The born and bred Tamworth trimmer was selected as one of the top twelve barbers in the state, and is now heading to Sydney to prove it at the state finals of the Cut Throat Barber Wars.

The competition pits the best in Australia and New Zealand against each other, with a win in the state finals cementing a spot in the grand final at the Hair Expo later in the year.

“I am the only one of the twelve selected that live outside of Sydney or Newcastle, so was pretty happy just to be selected,” Mr Cotter said.

On the day Mr Cotter needs to bring two of his own models, one for a razor fade and the other for a freestyle showcase of talent, and that is where he hopes to have the edge.

“I think I am just going to wing it and do something different,” Mr Cotter said. A lot of the others will do traditional cuts so hopefully mine will stand-out.”

The Tamworth barber works out of Halo Hair Couture, and is well renowned for his tracks, shapes and designs.
