Workers were spotted in Brisbane St as the area prepares to be switched on to the broadband service.
“Work is currently underway to connect 20,000 Tamworth premises to the NBN network,” an NBN Co spokeswoman said.
“The rollout of the nbn™ network in Tamworth is on track and is currently half way through the build with construction underway in parts of North Tamworth, East Tamworth, Moore Creek, Oxley Vale, Taminda, West Tamworth, Westdale and Tamworth itself.
“Construction in the remaining areas of Tamworth, including Hillvue, Calala, Kingswood and South Tamworth, will take place over the next three months.
“It is expected people will be able to progressively start making the switch to NBN network from late July through to January 2018.”
The spokeswoman said work will also start in Kootingal to connect 800 homes and businesses in July this year.
