The Mullaley working dog demonstration was one of a number of first-time show performances, which included model aeroplane aerial displays and stunt motorcycle demonstrations.
Taz Kelpies owner-operator Bruce Bell has been in the working dog business for about 7-8 years but said last weekend was one of his first “official” appearances as a standalone stud.
On display were a mix of experienced dogs and rookies, demonstrating the value of their farm contribution.
“It’s was a bit of exposure so people could witness the brains of the dog and just what a sheepdog could do,” Mr Bell said.
Show-goers were encouraged to stop by, “say g'day” and learn all they needed to know about training and working kelpies on sheep.
Working dogs will be put to the test this week at the Willow Tree Sheepdog Trial (April 27-30), headlined by the Bill Sevil Memorial North West Open Championship Trial.
