The ruckman and fellow big man Kurt Tippett underwent fitness tests on Wednesday to determine whether they would be fit for Thursday night’s clash against West Coast.
“(Tippett and Naismith) are both a chance to come over, but we do have Cal Sinclair here already," Nick Smith told reporters.
"It might be something the coaches are concerned about, but I think it will be fine.”
If neither is cleared to head across the Nullarbor, Sydney’s ruck division will be led by ex-Eagle Callum Sinclair, with Sam Reid back-up.
The Swans are still looking for a first win of the AFL season following losses to Port Adelaide, Western Bulldogs and Collingwood.
Despite the tough start, the form of Naismith has been solid, averaging just shy of 10 possessions and 30 hitouts per match in 2017.
