It’s all fun and flair at the Sundance Park Motel and Cattleman Steakhouse at the weekend, where the first Sundance Beats ‘n Blues Festival will be held with an array of musical acts.
Members of the public are invited to come along and experience the smooth musical stylings of local and visiting artists on Friday and Saturday.
Festival headliners include; the Mal Eastick Band, widely considered to be Australia’s finest musical protagonist of the blues, along with one of the nation’s greatest guitarists Phil Emmanuel.
Other artists featured in the festival include Pop Standen, 4 String Phil, Wanita & The Honky Tonk Bar Dwellers, Sally-Anne Whitten with her funky country/blues band The Rumour Mill, local rockabilly Duo Lawrie and Shelley Minson and many more.
The festival will start at 4pm on Friday until close and from 10am on Saturday until close.
Food will be available during the festival from the Cattleman Steakhouse - a licensed venue.
Venue owner Richard Manning said he hoped the festival would be an annual event on the city’s musical calendar.
“It’s something new for Tamworth,” he said.
“It’s certainly the country music capital of Australia; but I also believe it’s the music capital of Australia too.
“In the short time I’ve been here, I really feel the array of music lovers in the town and not just of country music.
“So we thought we’d have a blended festival, it was going to be primarily blues but we have thrown in some rockabilly aswell.”
Mr Manning said the festival was a dream of he and wife Cheryl’s for some time and he was looking forward to sharing it with music lovers this weekend. Tickets to the event are $50 for one day or $75 for two days of entertainment. There is also a shuttle bus available into the centre of Tamworth with a timetable available on request.
